Dance & Performance for Young People
Looking for a space to move and to make a new dance theatre production together? Look no further! ‘Vincent’s commitment to working with young people suggests a faith in the future… ‘ The Guardian.
Vincent Dance Theatre has a long history of working with Young People via our participation and production work. Our free, weekly sessions and monthly Sunday Performance Intensives are designed to equip young performers with the skills they need to make meaningful dance theatre work together, driven by their own ideas.
In our classes you will develop new skills, meet other young creatives and find out how you want to move. VDT works collaboratively as an ensemble and values difference. Our approach celebrates individual voices and individual wasy of moving. We aim to develop an authentic movement vocabulary for each young person rather than teach people to move in a way that denies individuality. We work from the inside out, explore release techinique, partnering and performance skills, rather than conforming to a prescribed movement style or vocabulary to make new work.
On Mondays 4.30 – 6.00pm join our dance improvisation class, for ages 11-16.
On Wednesdays 5.00-6.30pm sign up to our brand new Young Performers Collective, for ages 14-18 to make a new production with choreographer / Artistic Director Charlotte Vincent.
Wednesday sessions work in conjunction with our monthly Sunday Intensives , which together will allow this new ensemble of young people time to develop their devising and performance skills in order to create a new work together in spring 2027.
Sessions are led by experienced VDT facilitators and company members, with our Workshop Assistant Sharanya present to look after everyone’s well being. Any YP with additional needs will be supported by our Lead Facilitator and VDT’s Trainee in Socially Engaged Practice, Rosie.
The YP Collective will be anchored by VDT’s Young Associate Artists, Tia and Veronika, two young performers who have been employed by VDT to make and tour new work over the past 6 years.
By attending VDT’s sessions and monthly intensives (see dates in the drawer below) you can earn ‘digital badges’ to demonstrate and accredit learning – useful for future training and employment opportunities.

The Hall is fully accessible for wheelchair users and easy to get to by bus routes 3X, 23, 24 ,25 28, 48/49 from the city centre, or via a short walk from Moulsecoomb train station.
