Art of Recovery Live Sharing (Invitation Only)

Vincent Dance Theatre has a long history of placing the female experience centre stage and of raising awareness around the ongoing pandemic of violence against women and girls.
In the UK it is estimated that 2.3 million people aged 16 and over are victims of domestic abuse (National Centre for Domestic Violence). Women’s Aid recognises that domestic abuse is gendered and is most frequently perpetrated against women by male perpetrators, taking place ‘within the context of patriarchy’
Working with RISE domestic abuse charity and five women from four generations who attended VDT’s open movement workshops in Whitehawk and Moulsecoomb earlier this year, Charlotte is researching a new work that explores our lived experience of violence towards women and girls that asks ‘how do we protect and educate our young people, especially our boys, to move away from misogyny, towards equality, safety and mutual respect?’
A LIVE SHARING of Art of Recovery will take place for an invited audience on Weds 2 December at 2.30pm at Moulsecoomb Hall, Lewes Road, Brighton.
To accompany this sharing. VDT are staging our free, Archive and Engagement Space at The Skep, Moulsecoomb Place. Open 10am – 6pm Monday 30 November – Wednesday 2 December 2026.

Art of Recovery began in September 2024, with VDT hosting a series of workshops with women from Oasis Project, a unique charity in Brighton working with women in recovery from substance misuse. Art of Recovery (2026) is the sister project to VDT’s Art of Attachment (2018/21).
