About VDT
VDT produces the socially engaged work of Artistic Director and Choreographer Charlotte Vincent on stage and on film, moving people to think differently about issues of our time.
VDT brings professionals and non-professionals together to create Productions and Special Projects that are widely distributed and applied in both arts and non-arts settings.
VDT’s work is inclusive, collaborative and trauma-informed and imbued with robust safeguarding at every stage of the creative process. Participation and Professional Development is central to everything we do.
We prioritise working with young people and women at risk, placing the female experience centre stage to provoke debate around equality of opportunity and highlight the need for social change, especially around violence towards women and girls (VAWG).
VDT is a National Portfolio Organisation funded by Arts Council England and Associate Artist at Brighton Dome and Festival.
Our registered Office & Archive Space is at Community Base in Central Brighton. Our Participation Space is based at Moulsecoomb Place, East Brighton.

Our mission
We produce and distribute collaborative, socially engaged dance theatre work on stage, on film and across online platforms. We create opportunities for people whose voices are usually less well heard. We move people to think differently.

Practice led: we embed new learning and development in all areas of our activity and operation; safeguarding, trauma awareness and trust are at the heart of our practice.

Opportunity driven: we enable employment, training and development opportunities for trustees, staff members, freelance collaborators and non-professionals participants.
VDT’s new Participation base is at Moulsecoomb Place, a home for creativity, collaboration, and opportunity, right in the heart of East Brighton. Developed by East Brighton Trust (EBT) in partnership with Audio Active, this vibrant community space brings together creativity, social enterprise and local residents to share skills and ideas.
Located at the iconic Moulsecoomb Place on Lewes Road, the historic Manor House and Tithe Barn are under EBT’s stewardship on a head lease.
At the heart of the site is The Skep, a warm, flexible community space designed for meeting, making, learning and collaborating. Every organisation based here contributes to a shared mission: to make creativity and opportunity accessible to everyone in East and North Brighton so that the community benefits first.
VDT is working alongside Audio Active , Culture Shift and Brighton People’s Theatre to develop community driven participation opportunities with local residents.
VDT has a new partnership with the adjacent Moulsecoomb Hall which houses a gorgeous wooden sprung floor, meaning we can facilitate our community focused, movement based programmes and projects here.

VDT’s registered office and administrative base is currently at Community Base in central Brighton.
Throughout 2026, this space also hosts our Archive Project with 32 boxes of paper based artefacts and materials until they find a permanent home in 2026.
