PLAY (2024)
THUR 14 MARCH 2024 – BRIGHTON DOME CORN EXCHANGE
Directed by Charlotte Vincent | Composer Jules Maxwell |Artistic Associate Robert Clark
Commissioned by Brighton Dome and Brighton Festival
Vincent Dance Theatre is renowned for making highly crafted, socially engaged performance work, on stage and on film.
Celebrating the company’s 30th Anniversary (1994-2024), VDT’s new live production PLAY captures the messy reality of how girls and young women currently experience the world.
Laced with Vincent’s trademark dark humour and driven by real life testimonies from young people, parents and carers, four teenagers, glued to their mobile phones but yearning for physical connection, wreak havoc on the only adult present, VDT’s brilliantly inventive Polish collaborator, Aurora Lubos.
PLAY is a humorous, impactful new work that embraces the emotional upheaval of the past few years, unpacks the way we manage our children and ourselves, and celebrates young people’s incredible resilience in the face of abrupt and long-lasting personal and global change.
For audiences aged 12+
