In Optimo City, the Almost Perfect Town
1997, 45 mins
Two women caught between action and inaction, between movement and words. Tied to gender roles they can no longer make sense of, and exploring the clichés of love in a loveless universe, they get lost, alone, in familiar places. They drive themselves out of their minds and into each other’s arms. A search amongst the concrete for something to believe in.
In Optimo City, the Almost Perfect Town was commissioned by Yorkshire Dance and DanceXchange to explore the relationship between text and movement. Funded by Sheffield City Arts, Yorkshire and Humberside Arts and Sheffield and Rotherham Dance Project.
