Casina Settarte

2005

Between 19-23 July 2005 Charlotte Vincent and TC Howard took part in a Feldenkrais into Contact Improvisation training course run by Rick Nodine and Simonette Alessandri, at Casina Settarte, Apulia, Southern Italy.

The Feldenkrais Method was used to deepen specific anatomical awareness and open up new movement possibilities. The course looked at the technical aspects of contact improvisation, spending time to track the details of shifting weight, breath and physical structure. Compositionally the course introduced and scores which highlight our decision-making process in improvisation. Looking at silence and stillness as well as movement participants worked hard to achieve independence in their own dancing while maintaining a connection to the group with sensitivity, risk, humour and a vigorous physicality.
