The most humorous piece on the billing was Charlotte Vincent’s Straight Talking a witty take on Yvonne Rainer’s ‘No’ manifesto. Performed as an impromptu time filler, Robert Clark spoke with effeminate ‘dance’ gestures to identify the restrictions placed on his solo. After a lengthy solo which seemed to depict the trauma of trying to fit in a pair of skinny jeans, Clarke uttered the words ‘I had some big ideas. I was trying to say something. I won’t be doing that again’. The micky take feel to the pretensions of postmodernism was definitely welcomed by the audience.
