The Translation of Trauma- Training Day
A collaboration between the Founding Director of TouchBase / Attachment & Trauma Recovery Specialist / Author – Louise Michele Bombèr and Artistic Director / Choreographer Charlotte Vincent (Vincent Dance Theatre).
This training day offers an opportunity to dive deeper into a profound and engaging dialogue into the emotional labour of living and working with children whose every move is affected by adverse childhood experience (ACEs).
Using excerpts from Vincent’s powerful, trauma-informed dance theatre productions, Art of Attachment through a clinical, attachment-aware lens, Bombèr and Vincent create a safe, inventive space for participants to deconstruct, debate and reflect on their own role, working or living with children and young people affected by trauma.
This training day is suitable for a wide range of professionals and parents / carers who are interested in deepening their understanding of the world of trauma so that they can best navigate and support trauma recovery for the children and young people in their care.
Trigger Warning: Please note that some of the material covered could be distressing for some.
‘There is no sentimentality in this piece, it does not ask us to judge or to pity – but allows us to witness the exhausting labours involved in experiencing, acting out and recovering from trauma.’ Rachel Thomson, Professor of Childhood and Youth Studies, University of Sussex on Vincent Dance Theatre’s Art of Attachment.
Art of Attachment was originally commissioned by Oasis Project, supported by Wellcome Trust. Vincent Dance Theatre is a National Portfolio Organisation, funded by Arts Council England and Associate Company at Brighton Dome and Festival.
