Oasis Eastbourne Creative Workshop
These gentle, playful sessions offer a one-off, or series of opportunities to explore creative arts/craft activities, with the focus on understanding why creative activities
are useful to you as part of your emotional self-regulation tool kit, while reflecting on your own creative potential.
Who for: Adult, self-identifying women who are in recovery or working towards recovery and use the Women’s Hub in Eastbourne.
Vincent Dance Theatre (VDT) will provide all materials, a collection of largely paperbased craft activities and materials will be laid out on the central table. Participants will be invited to add to their own small creative scrap book to document their experience as the learn how to make origami hearts, butterflies and birds, reflect on metaphors, doodle more purposefully, explore turning creative affirmations into giant paper chains, weave paper, makes something using airdrying clay and more, sometimes to music and possibly sometimes in response to VDT film clips focused on creativity, hope and growth. There will be a chill out space should participants feel the need to step away or take a break.
This is not a therapeutic group or a space to talk about past experiences. It is a creative trauma informed, positive psychology creative workshop facilitated by Sian Williams from Brighton based arts organisation Vincent Dance Theatre, supported by Louise Owen-Thomas Oasis team.
