Bare Bones Dance Company
Straight Talking
2009, 12 mins
Straight Talking is Charlotte Vincent’s contribution to Bare Bones Dance Company’s 2009 season of new work, a solo devised with dancer Robert Clark. Straight Talking sits alongside work by internationally celebrated choreographers Rui Horta (Portugal) and Garry Stewart (Australia) and Bare Bones Artistic Director David Massingham (UK).
Borrowing from Yvonne Rainer’s ‘NO to spectacle not to virtuosity no to transformation and no to magic and make believe and transcendency of the star image no to the heroic...’, Straight Talking is a manifesto against convention, one man’s attempt to ‘get beyond the beautiful dance’. Awkward, contorted and wrestling with his own physicality, dancer Robert Clark attempts something different, putting dance out of action for once, for reasons only he can fathom.

There are currently no more tour dates planned for Straight Talking.
