Vincent Dance Theatre

Artistic Policy

Founded in 1994, and led by Artistic Director Charlotte Vincent, Vincent Dance Theatre (VDT) produces live devised dance theatre productions, interactive installations, short films and video works that tour the UK and abroad. We also produce contextualising packs and DVDs to accompany productions.

Based in Sheffield, UK, VDT is a diverse company with an international emphasis. Inclusive by nature, mature in outlook and feminist in our politics, we make devised work as an ensemble and place great emphasis on the personal contribution, individual physicality and cultural background of all collaborators involved in our work.

VDT delivers a varied and creative programme of high quality participation work to a range of people in professional development, community and formal education contexts.

VDT advocates dance as an important creative, political and social art form and supports the development of emerging choreographers, dancers and practitioners through mentoring, apprenticeship and understudy schemes.

VDT is committed to equal opportunities and strives to present positive images of marginalised groups. We do not discriminate on grounds of sexuality, race, gender, religious beliefs or age and choose to work in venues that are fully accessible to all sectors of the community.

VDT is regularly funded by Arts Council England, Yorkshire with projects funded by Arts Council England. VDT ‘s international work is regularly supported by the British Council.
